Week 13 Part 1- PREM south wall and access road-

It's time to mention some names that are doing all this work! During this phase from Week 13 to Week 16 or 17 (to be determined) the main form crew in the PREM hole has been Kevin Brown with Joel, Merle, Scott and Phil. Crews are not fixed all the time, people have to be flexible (or at least quick if Dennis is nearby!) but these are the general assignments. In the Treatment Building we have John Gabbard with Dennis, Rick, Roger, Robert, Ross, and Orion. We'll get all the last names and some pictures in before the end!

Here's a few interesting views of the PREM hole and Treatment building from the carpentry perspective-

Here is the early stage of buttress installation- the crane flying in the steel, setting it just right and a look at the couplers-

Here's a long vertical view of a rebar curtain being placed on the south PREM wall-

Owens Construction recently removed some unsuitable material from the main access road and rebuilt it with stronger stuff-

Week 12- PREM slab pour and 3rd Treatment wall pour-

So, Monday of Week 12 I decide to forget my camera just in time for the slab-on-grade pour for the Phosphorous Removal building that we have worked so hard to prepare since June 3rd!

Here is the current level of quality in Blackberry Curve phones- not nearly as good as iPhones from what I've seen but it will have to do!

What you see in that last picture is about 29,000 lbs of rebar buried in 550,000 lbs of concrete! Hope we put it in the right place...

In the meantime Rodbusters began assembling the buttress cages that will be installed next week. These are 24' long structures which will be secured by couplers to #10 rebar dowels that are now sticking out of the concrete-

The 3rd wall pour at the Treatment building went off without a hitch-

And the crew began building forms on the freshly cured PREM slab-

Week 11- 2nd wall pour and Discharge Area-

A big rain event over the weekend turned the PREM hole into the Plummer Community Swimming Pool-

So we'll ignore that hole while it dries out and move on to...more rebar! This project uses almost 400,000 lbs in all the buildings combined. I have some totals for the first two buildings that we'll reveal in an upcoming post.

In the meantime here are "Slider and the Burrheads"!-

More from that group later, here is our 2nd wall pour of the Treatment building-

Work finally started in the Wetland Discharge area to the south of town. This is where our basically drinkable effluent will flow across a landscaped gravel pad and back into Plummer Creek. No, Ellie, I am not taking the first taste!

Week 10- First wall pour and more rebar!

So, we left last week as "getting close" and now the day has arrived- final checks on the details of the wall forms-

The Phosphorous Removal (PREM) hole is not completely ignored but needs a little trim in the northwest corner before rebar can go in-

And now the truck is on site to pour the east wall of the Treatment Building-

"Dennis, I don't see your cell phone and we're not going in to find it!"-

Major reach from the Champion pump truck-

Can't stop tying rebar- another pour just days away-

Next day it's time to strip and move on to the next wall-

Week 9- Base Rock and Vertical Iron

Good progress this week in the Phosphorous Removal hole. Got the subgrade rock in, placed fabric and installed the bedding. Here you can see how to get a rubber-tire roller out of a 20' hole!

By the end of the week we had initial wood forms lowered into the hole, ready to set up a carpentry shop and build stuff!

In the meantime at the Treatment Building the next step after slab pour was to get more vertical rebar in place and construct forms on the east side for the first wall pour-

By the end of the week- getting close!
